To nullify and erase one's own darkness is the goal of abstract electronics artist B. Elkins' newest album "almost nearly never", his first under the Twice Divorced moniker. Recorded in a rented bedroom while separated from his wife during the darkest winter the modern world has known, Elkins' own detached darkness became ouroboric, and on "almost nearly never" he paints his own misery in monochrome. Stark production, minimal beats, and spare melodies work to exorcise the sense of boxed-in paranoia and helplessness, erasing it all under washes of cut up static and bursts of synth bass. Twice Divorced's "almost nearly never" is Elkins flexing his production muscles under a sheen of icy sentimentality for a world that doesn't exist anymore.
